Corps of Engineers-The Nature Conservancy to sign historic agreement at Mud Island Tuesday

Memphis, TENN., Nov. 14, 2011 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will sign an addendum to the National Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborating to Advance the Great Rivers Partnership (GRP). The purpose of this addendum is to highlight and advance the mission and strategy of the Great Rivers Partnership (GRP). It will facilitate:

  • Sustainable management of the Mississippi River Basin, including the Missouri and Ohio river basins;
  • Development of integrated management in other great river basins in the U.S. and globally;

  • Information exchange for advancing water management policies and practices; and

  • A better understanding of the impacts of climate change on large rivers and development of strategies to address climate change impact.
