  • Final levee system project on horizon as MVM completes preliminary projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District, in partnership with the Fulton County Board of Levee Commissioners (FCBLC), is nearing completion of two maintenance projects, the Island 8 Parcel 1 Relief Well Ditch Restoration Project and the Lake No. 9 Collector Ditch Erosion Repair Project, both located along the Mississippi River Mainline Levee south of Hickman, Kentucky. More importantly, after these projects are done, the district will be that much closer to executing the last and final project needed to finish the entire levee system.

  • Smith nominated for 2020 Program Manager of the Year Award

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District recently nominated Program Manager Derrick Smith as the Program Manager of the Year. Every year the district selects an Army civilian program manager to recognize their outstanding contributions and support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the regiment, including civil works, leadership, and achievements.
  • Stroupe nominated for 2020 Project Manager of the Year Award

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District recently nominated Jairus Stroupe as the Project Manager of the Year. Every year the district selects an Army civilian engineer to recognize their outstanding contributions and support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the regiment, including civil works, leadership, and local achievements.
  • Mississippi River Commission schedules high-water inspection trip

    The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River, April 12-16, 2021. Four public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river. Commission members will meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.
