Corps ends Orleans debris mission
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has ended the direct federal assistance by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' Louisiana Recovery Field Office in Orleans Parish.

LA-RFO to close its doors September 29
The LA-RFO and it's remaining 400-person workforce will be deactivated by the Federal Emergency Management Agent on September.  
The remaining debris and demolition requirements eligible under FEMA programs will be worked directly with the respective cities and parishes on a reimbursable basis.

Gutting Teams should exercise caution
Several houses recently collapsed immediately following gutting operations.  Crews gutting homes should be extremely cautious.

Many of these homes have been standing for almost two years soaking in salt-water and under attack from termites.  The support connectors and nails have been compromised by the salt water.

Jefferson Parish debris work to end 9/30

Corps of Engineers-related tree and debris work in Jefferson Parish is scheduled to end September 29 with the deactivation of the Louisiana RFO.
