Hatchie-Loosahatchie Mississippi River Ecosystem Restoration Study
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Non-Federal Sponsor, the Lower Mississippi River Conservation Committee (LMRCC), held a public scoping meeting for their Hatchie-Loosahatchie Mississippi River Ecosystem Restoration Study at the Fort Pillow State Park Visitor Center/Museum, Sept. 19, 2022. The scoping meeting was conducted to inform the public of the study process and solicit input on the scope, significant issues, and development of alternatives to be analyzed in depth in the study. The study will examine restoring ecological structure and function along the Mississippi River between River Miles 775 and 736 including side channels, floodplain waterbodies, and other aquatic habitat; floodplain forests; and several scarce vegetative communities - wetlands, canebrakes, riverfront forests and BLH forests.
