IN THE PHOTO: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District recently awarded an $8.4 million firm-fixed-price contract to Conrad Shipyard LLC, of Morgan City, Louisiana, for the purchase of a steel-hulled deck barge. The new barge is set to replace the stringout's existing landing barge (pictured above) at the Ensley Engineer Yard maintenance facility. This replacement brings the Memphis District another step closer to completing a total restoration of the facility's stringout, a project that has been in the works for approximately five years now.
