District completes $1.5M channel maintenance project, repairs existing revetment
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District Project Manager Zach Cook and Project Delivery Team members completed a revetment stone repairs project, July 12, in partnership with Commercial Towing Interests, represented by the Lower Mississippi River Committee, and contractor partner, Midwest Construction Company. The $1.5 million channel maintenance project placed 32,400 tons of Grade C Stone to repair two existing revetment locations. Revetment is placed against the banks of the river at locations where mainline levees are threatened or where unsatisfactory alignment and channel conditions are developing. Repairs will promote riverbank stability and to help maintain a safe and reliable navigation channel at River Miles 952L and 679.5R.
