Lt. Col. Collin R. Jones

Lt. Col. Collin R. Jones became the Memphis District deputy commander in June 2023. As deputy commander, he is second in command of the district.

The Memphis District supports flood damage reduction, navigation, environmental stewardship, emergency operations, other authorized civil works, and work for others along 610 miles of the Mississippi and White Rivers, encompassing a 25,000 square mile area in six states: Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Lt. Col. Jones also manages and supervises the general and administrative staff supporting all district operations. He is critical in overseeing the district's Emergency Management Operations in support of federal, state, and local authorities during federally declared emergencies and other critical times as required.

Lt. Col. Jones received his commission from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2007, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management.

Lt. Col. Jones' military education includes the Ranger Course, Sapper Leader's Course, Explosive Ordnance Clearance Agent Course, Pathfinder Course, Joint Firepower Course, and the Basic Airborne Course. He is also a graduate of the Military Advisor Training Academy. He holds a Project Management Professional certification and a Professional Engineer License in Missouri.

Lt. Col. Jones' past assignments include executive officer of Echo Company, 35th Engineer Battalion (OSUT) in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; platoon leader, 509th Clearance Company and Plans Officer for the 5th Engineer Battalion in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; assistant operations officer for the 14th Engineer Battalion, Operation Enduring Freedom; assistant operations officer and commander of A Co, 3D, 3ABCT Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB) in Fort Hood, Texas; engineer captain's career course small group leader and cell leader for the HHC, 1st Engineer Brigade in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; team leader for A Co, 5th Battalion, 1st Security Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB) at Fort Moore near Columbus, Georgia; and assistant brigade operations officer, operations officer, and brigade executive officer while serving the 36th Engineer Brigade in Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Lt. Col. Jones' awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (five Oak Leaf Clusters), Combat Action Badge, Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab, Pathfinder Badge and Parachutist's Badge.
