Position Title:  Construction Control Representative

Series/Grade:  GS-0809-07/08/09

Full Performance Level:  GS-09

Duty Location:  Caruthersville Area Office

Hourly Salary Range:  $43,251 - $68,777

Work Schedule:  Full-Time

Appointment Type:  Permanent

Travel Requirement:   Temporary Duty Travel is less than 25% of the time

Responsibilities/Duties:  Incumbent Serves as a Construction Control Representative with responsibility for participating in contract administration in support of the Branch's contract construction program. Incumbent accomplishes construction representative/inspection functions for several small to moderate size projects or one or two large projects that may be widely dispersed throughout a roughly defined geographical area.

o Responsible for ensuring the accomplishment of inspection functions for contract construction and O&M activities to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications

o Furnishes guidance and instructions to project inspectors and provides advice and makes decisions on matters and problems encountered

o Confers with supervisor and provides recommendations on major changes in priorities, future workloads and staffing requirements

o Reads, studies, keeps informed on, and analyzes a variety of construction plans and
specifications, change orders or modifications, directives, manuals, schedules, and makes
interpretations and decisions as to proper related administrative guides

o Maintains liaison between contractors and supervisor to obtain and provide information

Schedule:  This position generally works under flexible work hour provisions covered by the Alternate Work Schedule Policy and Procedure 31802-MVM.  

Qualifications Requirements:  May be selected at any grade level (GS-07 or GS-08 or GS-09) with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade of GS-9. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.

Education substitution:

GS-07

  Education: One full year (i.e 18 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Engineering, Engineering Technology. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

OR

 Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

GS-08

 Education: One and a half years (i.e 27 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Engineering, Engineering Technology. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

OR

 Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

GS-09

 Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in Engineering, such as Engineering, Engineering Technology. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

OR

 Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
