Today, the Memphis District held a pre-construction teleconference with C&M Contractors, Inc. to kick-off levee slide repairs on the White River Backwater levee and along the Mississippi River levee. This teleconference discussed and issued the Notice-to-Proceed for levee slide repairs in Work Areas 1 and 2, both in Arkansas.
The purpose of the pre-construction meeting is to achieve a clear and mutual understanding; between the contractor, Federal Government, and project partners; of all contract requirements and to identify and resolve potential problems prior to project work proceeding.
The entire levee slide repair project will conduct repairs in a total of four work areas, with the remaining Work Areas 3 and 4 being addressed in a subsequent pre-construction conference.
Project Manager Eric White, Wynne Area Office Area Engineer Loy Hamilton and key members of his team who are administering the contract, Civil Engineer Brian Cagle, and C&M Contractors, Inc. President Melinda Vaughn and members of her team participated in today’s teleconference.
Our much appreciated local partners for Work Area 1 are the White River Drainage and Levee District of Phillips and Desha Counties, and the St. Francis Levee District of Arkansas. And for Work Area 2, the Cotton Belt Levee District No. 1 is our much appreciated partner.
The Levee Slide Repair Project Delivery Team (PDT) members for this project are Eric White (project manager), Cody Isabell (geotechnical), Jeff Glass (technical lead), Chase Kesner (civil design), Jeromy Carpenter and Kevin Keller (cost engineering), Conrad Stacks (storm water), Ben Pitcock (regulatory), Jennifer Hilton-Smith (environmental), John Green (real estate), and Kim Daniel-Ray and Judy Stallion (contracting).
Congratulations to the entire team, consisting of the PDT, Wynne Area Office, contractor, and local partners, for reaching this important project milestone.
