The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Memphis District (MVM) hosted their first ever two-day lndustry Day business event on Feb. 20 and 21 at the Memphis, Tennessee, Renasant Convention Center.
Industry Day is a Department of Defense (DoD) Program Management Office (PMO) event providing federal contractors the opportunity to network with each other and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers professionals.
It also allowed the Memphis District to highlight different program areas and further ensure the district’s competency and capacity to deliver the mission.
“It’s a great occasion to receive updates on upcoming contracting opportunities within the Memphis District footprint,” said Channel Improvement Project Manager Zach Cook. “A panel was also held to solicit feedback and engage in contractor-government dialogue to discuss such topics as government solicitations, acquisition processes, and current ways of doing business.”
Memphis District leadership, district representatives from the Contracting Division, Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), and the Project Management Team were in attendance. Additional personnel from neighboring USACE districts also attended for added networking opportunities.
The second business event, the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD) Regional Industry Day, was held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, also at the Memphis Renasant Convention Center.
District representatives from six Mississippi Valley Division districts and other local government agencies attended this second Industry Day event.
The expert panel that day included the USACE HQ Director of Contracting, the USACE HQ Small Business Deputy, the MVD Programs Chief, the New Orleans District (MVN) Construction Chief, and the Vicksburg District (MVK) Engineering and Construction Division Chief.
Approximately 380 people attended the two events. Those same 380 people are also representatives of more than 190 companies. Overall, both events were a great success for all parties involved.
“These events are key to the Memphis District and the Mississippi Valley’s continued focus on partnerships with our industry partners,” said Cook. “It also ensures we continue to attract the most qualified contractors for our unprecedented workload in the areas of navigation, flood risk management, ecosystem restoration, emergency operations, and work for others.”
The Memphis District and Mississippi Valley Division thank all who took the time to attend this year’s event. To all our valued business partners, we appreciate you and your unwavering support.
