The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has been nationally selected as one of the Best Places to Work in Federal government in the medium sized organizations category. Judging took place through the annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey that is administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
“This survey allows our employees to be heard and to express their opinions about what it’s like to work for the Corps of Engineers,” Col. Mike Ellicott, commander of the Memphis District said. “It helps the USACE attract and retain the disciplined, competent and professional talent that is so vital to our success.”
Overall, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was ranked as the third Best Large Federal Agency to Work for.
“When compared against large agencies, USACE ranked number three out of 19 large agencies, just one percentage point behind Department of Commerce for the number two overall spot, only trailing NASA. When grouped with subcomponent agencies with more than 15,000 employees, USACE ranked number two.
The Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey is confidential and is administered to permanent federal employees. More than 3,500 USACE employees participated in the 2016 survey. The overall USACE response rate was 46.7 percent; above the government, Army, and Department of Defense average.
The data from the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey, plus additional surveys, are used to create the Best Places to Work rankings. These rankings are based on a scale of 0-100 and measure the overall employee satisfaction and commitment to their jobs across the government. The current goal for USACE is to be the top agency subcomponent in 2017.
