Corps to open Floodway Information Center in New Madrid

MEMPHIS, Tenn., JUNE 3, 2011 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will
open a Birds Point-New Madrid Floodway Information Center at 705-B Highway 61, New Madrid, Mo.,
on June 8. The office will be open Tuesdays through Fridays, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“The main purpose of the center will be to provide residents with information related to claims
for damages, to assist them in completing applications and to accept claims forms for processing,” Col.
Vernie Reichling, the Memphis District Commander said.

Col. Reichling said the Center will also be available to provide updates on the status of the
Corps’ flood risk reduction system damage assessment, Operation Watershed and other related
information.

The Center can be contacted at (573) 748-7975 once it opens at 8 a.m. on June 8.
