Corps’ emergency response system arrives in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 6, 2011 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
positioned an Emergency Command and Control Vehicle (ECCV) at the Cook Convention Center today to continue serving as a mobile Joint Information Center (JIC).

The JIC was located in Sikeston, Mo., for the past 10 days.

The ECCV is another tool being used to provide rapid and reliable two-way communication
between the Corps, the media and the public.

The Corps plans on using the ECCV to follow the river’s crest through the Memphis area down
to New Orleans.
