Donny Davidson is the Corps of Engineers new Area Engineer for the Caruthersville Area Office

MEMPHIS, Tenn., January 21, 2009 – Donny Davidson is the new Area Engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Caruthersville, Mo. Area Office.

Davidson has worked for the Corps of Engineers for more than 12 years in various sections of the Memphis District. His career began as an Engineering Co-Op student in the Planning Division, then worked for the Caruthersville, Mo. Office since May of 1999.

In his new position Davidson is responsible for the inspection of the contract construction and maintenance of flood control projects in a large geographical area of the District ranging over portions of five states (Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, & Tennessee). This area of the District consists of approximately 10,000 square miles with 600 miles of levee, part of the Mississippi and other rivers and tributary streams.

The 25,000-square-mile Memphis District encompasses portions of six states and is charged with keeping 355 miles of the Mississippi River open for commercial navigation. Its mission is to provide flood risk management, navigation, environmental stewardship, other authorized civil works, military programs support, and emergency operations within our area of responsibility, in order to benefit the region and the nation.
