MEMPHIS, Tenn., August 5, 2008 – Jim Pogue has been selected as the Chief, Public Affairs Office of
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District.
He has worked for the Corps of Engineers for more than 19 years in Public Affairs positions. Following Hurricane Katrina he also served as Public Affairs Officer for the Louisiana Recovery Field Office first in Baton Rouge and later in New Orleans.
In his new position Pogue is responsible for managing the Memphis District’s public information, internal communications and community relations programs.
The 25,000-square-mile Memphis District encompasses portions of six states and is charged with keeping 355 miles of the Mississippi River open for commercial navigation. Its mission is to provide flood risk management, navigation, environmental stewardship, other authorized civil works, military programs support, and emergency operations within our area of responsibility, in order to benefit the region and the nation.
