Corps of Engineers contacting Wolf River Harbor Industries regarding proposed land bridge

Published April 6, 2005
MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 6, 2005 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, contractor Tetra Tech, Inc., and the Riverfront Development Corporation, will begin contacting industries and government agencies located on Wolf River Harbor today to gather information about their operations. The harbor industries are being asked to describe how their operations are being served by the harbor and its associated infrastructure and what their needs would be should they relocate from the harbor.

“Riverfront Development Corporation has requested planning assistance from the Corps of Engineers to supplement their Memphis Riverfront Master Plan,” said Corps Project Manager Greg Grugett. “It’s very important that the public understand that our participation in this study is limited to planning assistance only. Furthermore, our participation does not represent nor infer the views of the Corps of Engineers on the land bridge proposal.”

Some of the considerations that Tetra Tech will consider are the current footprints of the affected harbor users, their dock and harbor facilities, and required access to road and rail transportation.
