MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 19, 2013 – During the 2013 summer months the Mid-south has experienced below normal rainfall. Further, the Mississippi River is projected to reach low water conditions that may negatively affect some operations at facilities and industries along the Mississippi River.

Actions contemplated by operators of some river facilities and industries to minimize these impacts may require Department of the Army permits under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 and/or Section 404 of the Clean Water Act of 1972.

In order to expedite any permitting applications prompted by low water conditions, please contact the Memphis District’s Regulatory Branch and at a minimum, provide the following information:

  • Applicant and facility name.
  • Location map with coordinates.
  • Name and number of existing Corps permits (if available).
  • Project details and proposed project purpose.
