Vicksburg, Miss., Jan. 9, 2013 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District (Corps) will host the 32nd annual Sardis Lake mid-winter bald eagle survey Saturday, 11 January 2014. Volunteers will watch, count and document movement of bald eagles around Sardis Lake. Volunteers should dress appropriately and meet at the Sardis Lake Field Office at 7:00 a.m. for information and instructions.

Sardis Lake is part of the Mississippi River and Tributaries System and is one of the four lakes in north Mississippi maintained and operated by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District. The primary mission of Sardis Lake is flood damage risk reduction and is located near Batesville and Oxford, Mississippi. Annually, more than 1.4 million visitors enjoy the 98,371-acre recreational area to enjoy the camping, playgrounds, swimming areas, trails, fishing, boat ramps and marinas. The lake traffic brings approximately $34.5 million to the local economy and supports approximately 464 jobs.
