  • Mississippi River Commission to conduct public hearings during annual high water inspection trip

    The Mississippi River Commission will take its mission to riverside communities this spring, hosting four public hearings as part of its 2026 High-Water Inspection trip and public hearings, March 23 - 27. The hearings, which are held onboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi at four different locations along the river, give residents, stakeholders, and local community members an opportunity to voice their views, share ideas about challenges facing the river system as well as engage with Commission members.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual Low Water Inspection Trip, Aug. 15–22, as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers observe its 250th anniversary year, commemorating a legacy of service to the nation.
  • Mississippi River Commission schedules 411th session to conduct annual low-water inspection trip, public hearings

    The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its 411th low-water inspection trip and public hearings from Aug. 19 – 23 at four locations along the Mississippi River. The meeting dates, times and locations are as follows: August 19: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. New Madrid, Mo. (City Front) August 20: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Memphis, Tenn. (Mud Island River Park) August 21: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lake Village, Ark. (City Front) August 23: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Berwick, La. (Garber Brothers Marine)
  • Mississippi River Commission prepares for spring high-water inspection trip

    The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual spring high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River, March 27- 31, 2023. The Commission will host public meetings in select towns along the Mississippi River, with commission members meeting with local partners, stakeholders, and residents. Members will listen to public concerns, ideas, and issues during each meeting.
  • Mississippi River Commission cancels Upper Mississippi River portion of low water inspection trip but still plans to conduct Lower Mississippi River portion

    Due to the rising cases of COVID, the Mississippi River Commission (MRC) has canceled the Upper Mississippi River portion of its annual low water inspection trip on board the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI, which was scheduled for August 15–20, 2021. The health and safety for people is a priority during this critical time in our nation. The MRC still intends to conduct the Lower Mississippi River portion of the low water inspection trip and public hearings scheduled for August 22–27, 2021.
