    VICKSBURG, Miss., December 29, 2015 – The Mississippi Valley Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, fully activated its flood fighting emergency management operations for the Rock Island, St. Louis, Memphis, Vicksburg and New Orleans districts to manage rapidly rising water levels on the Mississippi River and several tributaries, with the highest Mississippi River levels since the Great Flood of 2011.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 26, 2015 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) ended its Phase II floodfight yesterday afternoon as a result of steadily falling river stages on the Upper Mississippi River.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 22, 2015 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) initiated Phase II floodfighting this morning due to continuing high river stages on the Upper Mississippi River. The area of current or possible flooding is located in the northern portion of the Memphis District in the Charleston (Missouri) and Cairo (Illinois) Sectors.

  • Corps of Engineers begins Phase I floodfight in Charleston and Cairo Sectors

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 19, 2015 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) initiated Phase I floodfighting this morning due to high river stages on the Upper Mississippi River. The area of current or possible flooding is located in the northern portion of the Memphis District in the Charleston (Missouri) and Cairo (Illinois) Sectors. The lands likely to be affected by the forecasted high water are located in and around the communities of Cape Girardeau, Scott City, Chaffee and Commerce, Mo. Floodfight personnel will also be active in the community of Cairo, Ill., due to the high water on the Mississippi River. The Ohio River is currently below floodfight activation stages but will rise above flood stage.
