Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas on Veterans Day

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, November 11.

Nashville District provides info on how government shutdown is affecting operations

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 1, 2013 - The Nashville District is in the process of conducting an orderly shutdown because of a lack of appropriations. The district will reduce its manpower over time to essential personnel only. These essential personnel will continue to support critical Corps of Engineers missions such as dam safety, hydropower, and operation of the navigation locks on both the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers.

Low Water plans may require permits from some industries and facilities along Mississippi River

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 19, 2013 – During the 2013 summer months the Mid-south has experienced below normal rainfall. Further, the Mississippi River is projected to reach low water conditions that may negatively affect some operations at facilities and industries along the Mississippi River.
