    MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 5, 2013 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, today released the Assessment of Information Needed for River Related Management, the first report authorized by the Lower Mississippi River Resource Assessment. This report will address gaps in current information related to sediment, water quality, data storage and availability, and tributary management.

    VICKSBURG, MISS., June 5, 2013 – Brigadier General Margaret W. Burcham was officially appointed as a member of the Mississippi River Commission by President Barack Obama May 28, 2013. Burcham is the first female general officer to be appointed to the commission.
  • Corps of Engineers begins floodfight near Cape Girardeau, Missouri

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 3, 2013 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, initiated Phase I floodfighting activities at 7 a.m. today (June 3) due to high Upper Mississippi River stages. The area of flooding is located in the northern portion of the Memphis District near Cape Girardeau and Dutchtown, Mo.
