  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases second of three Lower Mississippi River Resource Assessment reports

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 11, 2014 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, today released the Assessment of River Related Recreation and Access, the second report authorized by the Lower Mississippi River Resource Assessment. This report will address recreation on the Lower Mississippi River and the need for facilities and access.
  • Corps to christen new vessel to honor Thomas George

    St. Louis – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District will christen its newest named vessel in honor of the late Thomas George, captain of the Corps’ Dredge Potter, in a ceremony to be attended by his family, his peers and Corps teammates at the St. Louis Service Base July 15.
  • Mississippi River Commission schedules high-water inspection trip

    VICKSBURG, Miss., March 2014 -- The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River April 7-11, 2014. Four public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.
  • Grenada Lake Youth Waterfowl Hunt

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Grenada Lake Field Office and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host a youth waterfowl hunt on 1 February 2014. The youth waterfowl hunt will be at the Benwood Waterfowl Management Area and will provide an opportunity for experienced waterfowl hunters to teach the younger generations proper techniques and ethics of the sport.
  • Enid Lake Annual Clean Up Day

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District (Corps) will hold the 10th annual Enid Lake clean-up day on 22 February 2014. Volunteers interested in participating in this event can meet at the Enid Lake Field Office, Chickasaw Hill Boat Ramp or Sylva Rena Grocery at 7:00 a.m.
