  • Corps of Engineers expands regional floodfight in Missouri and Arkansas

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 2, 2017 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) began Phase II floodfight activities at 7 a.m. on May 2 in the vicinity of Cape Girardeau, Mo., due to high river stages on the Upper Mississippi River. The area of current or possible flooding is located in the Charleston (Missouri) Floodfight Areas on the Upper Mississippi River. The community of Scott City, Mo., and low lying roads in that vicinity may be affected.
  • Corps of Engineers plans Phase II floodfight efforts in Missouri Bootheel and northeastern Arkansas

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 30, 2017 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) expects to begin Phase II floodfight activities at 7 a.m. on May 1 in the Missouri Bootheel and northeast Arkansas due to high river stages on the St. Francis River. The area of current or possible flooding is located in the Dexter and Kennett (Missouri) Floodfight Areas on the St. Francis River. Communities that may be affected include Fisk, Mo., and St. Francis, Ark.
  • Memphis Corps of Engineers selected as one of “Best Federal Places to Work”

    The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has been nationally selected as one of the Best Places to Work in Federal government in the medium sized organizations category. Judging took place through the annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey that is administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
  • Mekong meets Mississippi in Memphis

    Twelve members of the Mekong River Commission, headquartered in Vientiane, Laos, spent five days in the Lower Mississippi Valley sharing knowledge and learning from their counterparts on the Mississippi River Commission. They arrived in Memphis, Tenn., on April 2 and traveled from there to a variety of locations in the region. The two commissions formed a partnership in 2010 built around common interests in water resource development and management, and sharing of technical expertise and lessons learned.
  • Mississippi River Commission schedules high-water inspection trip

    The Mississippi River Commission will conduct the Memphis District portion of its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River April 3-4, 2017. Two public meetings in the Memphis District are scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues. The meeting places, dates and times are as follows: • April 3 9:00 a.m. Hickman, Ky. (Port of Hickman) • April 4 9:00 a.m. Memphis, Tenn. (Beale Street Landing)
