  • Nashville District provides info on how government shutdown is affecting operations

    NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 1, 2013 - The Nashville District is in the process of conducting an orderly shutdown because of a lack of appropriations. The district will reduce its manpower over time to essential personnel only. These essential personnel will continue to support critical Corps of Engineers missions such as dam safety, hydropower, and operation of the navigation locks on both the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers.
  • Government Shutdown Impacts to Vicksburg District

    MEDIA ADVISORY: VICKSBURG, Miss…Due to the lack of 2014 funding legislation and the government shutdown, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District (District) has reduced services. Personnel in public safety and protection of infrastructure related positions will remain on duty.
  • Low Water plans may require permits from some industries and facilities along Mississippi River

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 19, 2013 – During the 2013 summer months the Mid-south has experienced below normal rainfall. Further, the Mississippi River is projected to reach low water conditions that may negatively affect some operations at facilities and industries along the Mississippi River.
  • Army Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28

    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived.
  • St. Johns Bayou and New Madrid Floodway EIS comment period extended to Nov. 25

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 3, 2013 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has extended the public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the St. Johns Bayou and New Madrid Floodway Project to Nov. 25, 2013.
